My Makeup Blog: 2010 in Number

Hi everybody,<br /><br />It seems like yesterday that I wrote <a href="http://mymakeupblog.blogspot.com/2009/12/my-makeup-blog-year-in-numbers.html">the last post of 2009</a>. Now, I am sitting here contemplating on what to write for the last post of 2010. This year has been a good year so far and I'm getting emotional to see 2010 coming to an end. It has marked a significant change in my life as well as in my blog. For the first time ever, I had an opportunity to do what I wanted and guess what? The explanation is simple: the GILTY Pleasures Blog Tour disintegrated. Therefore, I no longer have a weekend post. While I do love my 5 post a week schedule, a lot of you guys want something on this blog during the weekend. Therefore, I need to come up with something to fill in the void during the weekend. Was I sick? I think I was. However, this year I have been more productive during the winter months (January, February, October, November, and December.) This is a really strange behavior. I thought I was more active during the summer months. Well, the data just proved me wrong!<br /><br />Last but not least, here are the things I learned during 2010:<br /><br /><b>1. I can write <i>a lot!</i></b><br /><br />50,000 words in November and many other words during other months. While I don't keep track of my word count, I guess it's around 200,000 words or more. One word at a time does add up in the long run.<br /><br /><b>2. Belly is not just good looking. He is also a smart kitty</b><br /><br />I am not going to elaborate on this point, it would make me sound like a Crazy Cat Lady. You already saw what he did this year. Belly is a really smart cat. Also, is emotional IQ is off the chart. He can sense when I am sad and comfort me.<br /><br /><b>3. I can haz friends offline, too!</b><br /><br />When I was in grad school, I had a lot of colleagues but not many friends. This year, the close friends I had left me one by one, because of job or school opportunities. One of them got terminal cancer and passed away in April. I mourn her every single day. Thankfully, God doesn't give me something I can't handle. I found a group of writing friends and now, I have a social life that could make my 2008 self jealous. I guess that is one of my biggest achievement in 2010.<br /><br />To rehash, 2010 has been an awesome year and I am very sad to see it go away. I would like to have this opportunity to thank all of you who have been there for me during this year. Also, I want to thank the many publicists and companies that furnished me with their products. Without all of you, my life and blog could have been a lot more boring. For years, I tried to do a cut a crease look and failed. Then, finally, it dawned on me that I can do it but I have to cut it a bit lower since I'm monolid and all. I did an experiment with MAC Painterly paint pot and Art Deco eyeshadow base since Painterly has very similar texture to Art Deco: after applying each base to each eye, I use the same amount of eyeshadow and same application technique on my eyes. The eye shadows are incredibly pigmented. I only used a tiny bit on my eyes and they blend really well. The only downside of this palette is the lack of highlighting colors. I thought I could use Midnight Cowboy Rise Again but it is very glittery. Also, Uzi and Maui Wowie have the same texture. This palette has a nice balance of neutrals and fun colors. The Monday After Christmas

Hi everybody,<br /><br />Since Thanksgiving, Belly has worked his appetite up for Christmas. The only way to make him do anything is to promise him roasted turkey on Christmas day (<a href="http://mymakeupblog.blogspot.com/2010/12/belly-at-large-cat-who-wants-christmas.html">proof here</a>.) I am not kidding: on Christmas day, Belly stood smack in the middle of the living room and meowed loudly asking for turkey. He waited while I cooked the turkey breast, got impatient, and left. I could see steams of hot air streaming out of his perky ears.<br /><br />Anyways, the Christmas spread was smaller than the Thanksgiving one simply because the cashier at Wal-mart forgot to give me a bag of stuff. I didn't have the green bell pepper for the trinity of my dressing. The Trinity, by the way, is a mix of onion, celery, and green bell pepper people in the South use in their cooking. Also, I didn't have my bag of corn and God knows I love my corn! Despite the bummers, the food came out pretty good. It's like a health food store without being a co-op. While the merchandise is more of the same, the food is actually quite decent. There are glutes-free cakes as well as gluten-full ones. This cake tastes like the ones from back home where they have butter icing instead of the sugary stuff American cakes tend to have. It is not really sweet but the chocolate is very kicking. Me likey! (Also, when I eat chocolate cakes like this, I tend to want to have a glass of merlot. [Un]fortunately, I didn't have any vino on Christmas day. Among the stuff that I received, there is season 3 of "The Big Bang Theory." Whoever gifted it to me, you know who you are and thank you very much! Also, my neighbors probably think I am insane. Who laughed like a maniac at 2 in the morning? I can't help it, TBBT is like crack on my rye bread. It's addictive and Sheldon is just too funny!<br /><br />Also, I got myself Photoshop Elements 9 and I'm learning to use it. So far, I learned diddly swat. Paint.NET has been spoiling me for over a year and PSE 9 looks really intimidating. Gotta go read some books and learn how to photoshop the right way.<br /><br />How about you? Belly at Large: The Cat who Wants Christmas

Hello humans,<br /><br />It's Christmas Eve, yo! Do you feel excited? Me, I almost smell the fragrance of roasted turkey in the air, meow!<br /><br />In the mean time, this was what happened in our latest photo shoot. Mr. Self Timer was the one who took our pictures. Rockstar FOTD with Urban Decay Book of Shadows vol. 3 Palette!

Hi everybody,<br /><br />Finally, after months of admiring the beauty of <a href="http://mymakeupblog.blogspot.com/2010/12/i-heart-urban-decay-book-of-shadows-vol.html">Urban Decay Book of Shadows vol. 3</a>, I gathered enough courage to do a FOTD. To create this look, I incorporated Rockstar, a dark purple color, with Smog and Suspects, two neutral eye shadows. Using the same brush, layer Smog on top and blend it with Rockstar. Then, pick up Suspect and blend it on top of Smog. (This is what I call the layering system. When in doubt, do it this way. You can't go wrong!) Line upper lash line with Zero and lower lash line with Ransom. Highlight inner corner of your eyes with Pixie, then apply Midnight Cowboy Rides again to the same area. Highlight with Gotta Glow, then curl your lashes and apply mascara.</li><li><b>Face</b>: apply your primer of choice before blending out foundation using ELF Studio powder brush. Conceal blemishes and dark circles, then set your foundation and concealer with the mineral veil, using the same powder brush. Apply Pink Flash to your cheeks, blend it out with your fingers before applying Shu Uemura blush to your cheeks, using the same powder brush. Highlight with Gotta Glow.</li><li><b>Lips</b>: layer Bedazzled on top of Just Whispers</li></ul><div>I'm sorry there's no close-ups of the eyes in this FOTD. My camera is very naughty when I take close-ups of neutral eye shadows. I do need a new camera, btw. I'm thinking between Canon S95 and G12.</div><div><br /></div><div>What do you think about this look? I love this UD palette: the eye shadows are a joy to work with and the pencils glide very smoothly. Also, the Pink Flash/P Brown 76 is my favorite blush combo. When you layer a powder blush on top of a creme blush, they last a lot longer.
