Happy Monday everyone!<br /><br />It's hard to blog sometimes when internet is not reliable. This morning for the millionth time I tried to upload some pictures so that I can tell you about one of my most recent hauls. The year 2009 started with a bang to me, makeup wise. After Christmas, I found out <a href="http://everydayminerals.com/">Everyday Minerals</a> (EDM) had a 17% discount coupon for all purchases during that time. Since I really wanted to try some of their products, I decided to place an order. Then I realized that I did not order anything from EDM for more than a year! How so? Click here for <a href="http://mymakeupblog.blogspot.com/2008/07/7-days-and-7-nights-of-mineral-makeup_16.html">an earlier entry</a> to find out, alright my dear readers?<br /><br />Since my last order, EDM changed a lot of things: switched their website to a better-looking version, changed the formulas of almost every MMU items, provided many different foundations and concealers, and finally offered sample sizes in items they did not do before. I was intrigued to try out some new things as I kept on hearing raves about this company despite my so-so experience with them. Also, the 17% discount did help to make things better. display: block; height: 300px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></a>I decided to literally wear some makeup on my face on New Year Day.</span><br /><span id="fullpost">This FOTD is called "Bug Eyes" hahaha</span><br /><span id="fullpost"><br /></span><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><span id="fullpost">The three foundations samples are used as eye shadows and I intended to use them that way when I ordered, hence the non-matching shades to my skin. They are pigmented enough to be used as eye shadows so I am quite happy. Also, the formula change with added mica makes everything easier to apply. EDM foundations now do not give me large pores anymore. The staying power and slip is fantastic! I am very happy for all the items I received in this order.</span><br /><span id="fullpost"><br /></span><br /><span id="fullpost">However, EDM decided to revamp their product lines and gave some items a big fat axe, including things that I just ordered (lucky me!):</span><br /><ul><li><span id="fullpost">Natural Reflections is gone for good, RIP! They did it before with the Silk Dusts which were their most popular items. NRs were their replacements and now they are also in makeup heaven.</span></li><li><span id="fullpost">The whole skin care line, including the wet wipes went missing on their website: until now whether they got an axe or not is still unknow and I hope they are spared. I love the wipes and want to reorder.</span></li><li><span id="fullpost">The 10-piece eyeshadow sample kit is also out of the game: this is unfair for those who just want to order sample sizes. Their e/s sample kit was really affordable ($17 USD) and it's a fun way to try different things. Since most people do not use up a full jar of e/s in their life-time, sampling is the way to go.</span></li></ul><span id="fullpost">I sincerely hope for every item EDM cut, another greater one is coming out as replacements. The case was true with NRs and I hope it will continue that way. Also, before they make a cut, please at least let us know so we can stock up some of our favorites. I like my NR now and if it's gone, I don't know if I can find anything as good to use as a powder.</span></div></div><span id="fullpost"><br />Reviews of some items are coming out soon within the next few weeks, so stay tuned for them! I've been so busy playing with my makeup that I even forgot to take swatches. Hello Kitty for MAC: Pictures

Happy Friday, everyone!<br /><br />Remember <a href="http://mymakeupblog.blogspot.com/2008/08/musings-on-mac-limited-editions.html">this post</a>, anyone? Well, it is coming true! If you wish <s>(or bitch, moan, complain, whine)</s> hard enough, your dream will come true. In my case, beware of what you wish for because with Hello Kitty LE collection from MAC, my wallet is going to be a lot lighter. Hello Kitty is the cutest cat on earth and it simply makes sense for Sanrio to collaborate with MAC for a makeup collection.<br /><br />Traditionally, MAC releases a cartoon LE collection at the beginning of the year starting from Barbie Loves MAC and following with Fafi collection last year. This year, a lot of young women's dreams are coming true with the release of this HK collection. This whole collection is going to be released on the Valentine's week! So this year my dear ladies, you can tell your loved ones to forget about the roses and chocolates: some of the above items in a box probably will make your V-Day much better. To me, I am used to the pink and white Hello Kitty and this version for MAC does not encapsulate the kawaiiness that HK is all about. However, in my most humblest opinion, the cartoon collection usually one of the best LEs of the year, if not <span style="font-style: italic;">the best</span>. I hope HK will not let me down. Last year's Fafi collection marked the beginning of my infatuation with paint pots but this collection does not have any. However, I've been drawn more to lipsticks lately so I hope to get some cute ones from HK.<br /><br />Last but not least, I declare a challenge on myself today: <span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);">No more makeup purchasing until Hello Kitty Collection!</span> I've been buying makeup here and there non-stop since Thanksgiving, not a lot but still a lot. Now it's time to recover and really enjoy what I got instead of cluttering my room with more and more makeup. That means I will have a month of non-buying for me. Can I do it? My Quest to the Perfect Gel Liner, Part 2: Coastal Scents

Hello my dear lovely ladies (and gents),<br /><br />How are you doing? I hope you are having a wonderful day so far! It's Thursday and we're just one day away from the weekend, so push a bit harder, shall we? Ever since last Thanksgiving, I was enthralled into the quest of finding the perfect gel liner. The first one I've ever used is <a href="http://mymakeupblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/jane-be-pure-mineral-gel-liner-review.html">Jane Be Pure Mineral Gel Liner</a> that I enjoy but am not impressed. Since it is mineral-based, this gel liner is proned to smudging. Also, I have oily lid and deep set eyes which make almost every gel liner smudge very easily. The problem can be solved with me purchasing MAC fluidlines but I refuse to succumb to peer pressure and decided to roam around for something else, something not MAC but performs as well as MAC or even cheaper!<br /><br />Boy, those are hard criterias to knock down, aren't they? I've tried three products since then and let me tell you: it's hard out there for a beauty blogger! Let's see what I've purchased so far:<br /><ol><li><a href="http://www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com/templates/products/sp_shaded.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY2751&PRODUCT_ID=PROD1109">Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner in Black Ink</a> ($21 USD, ouch!): I went to a graduation, I cried, it smudged, end of story! When I bought it, the SA claimed that it is waterproof, by the way.</li><li>Victoria's Secret Very Sexy gel eyeliner duo ($12 USD): also smudged like mad, currently used as eyeshadow bases.</li><li><a href="http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_id=1663">Coastal Scents gel liner ($6.95 USD)</a>: see review below. Seriously, keep on reading! Coastal Scents seem to have a steady stream of loyal and energetic customers. Also, black is a very popular eyeliner color and I was a little bit disappointed not to have it. However, it is indeed blue but the blue is very subtle which makes this color suitable for everyday wear. Also, it is very soft and easy to blend. The lasting power is unbelievable: after 6-8 hours, it still holds up really well. Moreover, it does not smudge at all despite the friction and oiliness of my eyelids.<br /><br />The two things that I don't like about it are: (1) no label on the jar, I got confused of what the name is and had to look up online, and (2) it is matte, matte, matte! I was vying for something glossier but the BB SA (that's the code for "Bobbi Brown sales associate") told me that glossy gel liners are runny and smudge very easily. It had only just gone on sale and I thought, aww what a pretty dress. Then the other day, I saw it at a department store and I must say, it looks even better in person! Naturally I simply HAD to try it on, even though the only one on the rack was about 2 sizes too big. And it felt absolutely beautiful. It is made out of this wonderfully flowy chiffon material that moves with you as you swirl. Most of the time with these kind of dresses, the chest area would be too big for me. But from the looks of it, with the right size, it promises to fit well on me (or so I imagine). And best thing of all? With this print, this is the perfect dress for Spring. The color is dark enough that you can pair it with tights for colder weathers. But the material and design is just light enough that it will still be great for summer! The print is also not so recognizable that it will be over next season. How awesome is this dress?<br /><br />Unfortunately for me, I analyze too long and now they are sold out on Shopbop (it was half price!). I've already checked the DvF website, Saks and Neiman Marcus. But alas, it looks like this dress is lost to me.
